National Home Security Company

Migrating 21 web pages off 3 legacy platforms onto a single CMS in 4 months

A national home security company's marketing team had no control over its own website. Public-facing pages were split across three disconnected platforms, and even small content updates required a ticket to IT. CG Infinity migrated the site onto a single Contentful-based CMS, prioritizing the highest-traffic and most frequently updated pages first. Despite an in-flight brand redesign and the loss of the client's own design and QA staff mid-project, CG Infinity retired one of the three legacy platforms and delivered the migration within the original four-month budget.

AT A GLANCE

A national home security company retired one of three disconnected website platforms by migrating 21 pages onto a unified Contentful CMS in about four months, despite a mid-project scope change and the loss of the client's design and QA resources.

The Challenge

Marketing locked out of its own website

The client's public website ran across three disconnected platforms: a legacy .com system, HubSpot, and Sitefinity. Any update, even a small one, required IT involvement, which slowed down how quickly marketing could react to business needs, test new messaging, or launch new content. The company needed a single modern CMS that gave marketing direct control while still meeting brand and design standards.

THE SOLUTION

A phased migration built around business impact, not convenience

CG Infinity migrated the site onto Contentful, sequencing pages by how often marketing updated them and how much traffic they received rather than by what was easiest to move first. A blended onshore and offshore delivery team meant requirements gathered during the US workday came back as tested work the next morning. When the client's own website redesign landed mid-project and the employee responsible for design and QA left the company without a replacement, CG Infinity absorbed both changes, building interim page mockups directly to keep the schedule intact. When Contentful's content-type licensing limits threatened to force pages out of scope, CG Infinity recommended consolidating content types instead, a fix the client's IT lead called one of the most valuable pieces of problem solving on the engagement.

THE RESULTS

One legacy platform retired. Delivered on budget.

CG Infinity migrated the priority pages onto the new Contentful environment inside the original four-month window, letting the client fully retire one of its three legacy platforms and reduce reliance on the other two. The client's IT lead specifically credited CG Infinity's offshore delivery model for keeping the project on track through every disruption, and said he would not use an offshore delivery model with any other partner.
